Pixar is running out of ideas

Disney nowadays want to completely dominate the box office. After buying Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilms, the company has transformed all its franchises into money making machines. But with two real action movies per year, two from Pixar, one from Star Wars and two from the Marvel Universe, in addition to the other Disney titles, it?s very difficult to keep the pace in terms of quality.

'The Good Dinosaur' is probably one of the bad Pixar movies. Fortunately, there are not many like this. I?m not saying this is a bad movie, 'The Good Dinosaur' is a very well done and efficient film.

The problem with Pixar movies is their background and storytelling. The company has always surprised us on those grounds. But in 'The Good Dinosaur' we see plots and scenes identical to 'The Lion King' and the characters and ambiance seems taken from 'The Land Before Time'.

It?s true that all Pixar films have a lot of elements in common (such as the death of a loved one, which is a Pixar and Disney favorite) but they?re always trying to stand out from the crowd. The hidden message only adults can understand, the background, or the gags. All Pixar movies used to be known for this extra of originality (we have in mind the first scenes from 'Up' or 'Wall-E'). However, all of this is missing from 'The Good Dinosaur'. Even the characters seem to be unattractive for our children?s toy collection.

'The Good Dinosaur' is a good, fun and enjoyable family film. One that you will forget the day after watching it.
